Sonos Move Portable Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Speaker

The Sonos Move is the first-generation portable speaker in the Sonos Move series. It combines Wi-Fi and Bluetooth playback with Automatic Trueplay tuning, an integrated carrying handle, IP56 water and dust resistance, and up to 11 hours of continuous playback at moderate volume.

At home, Move connects to a Sonos system over Wi-Fi. When away from Wi-Fi, you can switch to Bluetooth and stream directly from a compatible phone, tablet or computer.

Two Class-D Digital Amplifiers

The original Sonos Move uses two Class-D digital amplifiers tuned to its acoustic architecture. One amplifier powers the tweeter while the other supports the midwoofer.

Downward-Firing Tweeter

A single downward-firing tweeter handles high frequencies and is positioned to create a wide soundstage from the speaker's enclosure.

Dedicated Midwoofer

The built-in midwoofer reproduces mid-range frequencies and low-frequency output, including vocals, instruments and bass. This single-midwoofer and single-tweeter arrangement distinguishes the original Move from the later Move 2, which uses a dual-tweeter stereo design.

Automatic Trueplay Tuning

Automatic Trueplay uses the Move's microphone array to analyse the speaker's surroundings and adjust the sound for its current environment and the audio being played. When the speaker is moved to another room or taken outdoors, Trueplay can automatically retune the sound without requiring manual calibration.

Up to 11 Hours of Playback

The built-in 36Wh rechargeable battery provides up to 11 hours of continuous playback on a single charge at moderate volume. Actual battery life can vary depending on volume, playback conditions, and usage.

Wireless Charging Base

The Sonos Move includes a Wireless Charging Base. Place the speaker onto the base to recharge it without plugging a charging cable directly into the speaker each time. The speaker can also be charged through its USB-C port using a compatible USB-C Power Delivery charger.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

Move supports compatible 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks using 802.11a/b/g/n. When connected to Wi-Fi, it can operate as part of a Sonos home sound system, giving access to compatible streaming services, speaker grouping, AirPlay 2 and supported voice assistants.

Bluetooth 4.1

Bluetooth 4.1 allows audio to be streamed directly from a compatible smartphone, tablet, computer or other Bluetooth-enabled device. This gives the original Move a portable playback option when a Sonos Wi-Fi network is not available.

IP56 Water and Dust Resistance

The Sonos Move carries an IP56 rating, protecting against dust and high-pressure water streams under the conditions covered by the rating. Its enclosure also uses shock-absorbing materials intended to help protect the speaker during portable use.

Built-In Carrying Handle

A recessed handle is integrated into the back of the speaker, allowing the 3kg Sonos Move to be picked up and carried without requiring a separate handle or strap.

Apple AirPlay 2

The original Move supports Apple AirPlay 2 over Wi-Fi with compatible Apple devices.

Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant

When connected to Wi-Fi, the built-in far-field microphone array supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant where those services are available. The microphones are also used by Automatic Trueplay for sound tuning.

Far-Field Microphone Array

The microphone system uses beamforming and multi-channel echo cancellation to support voice commands and Automatic Trueplay tuning. The microphones can be disabled using the speaker controls when they are not required.

Adjustable EQ

The Sonos app allows the speaker's bass, treble, and loudness settings to be adjusted to suit your listening preferences.

Capacitive Touch Controls

Controls on the top of the Move allow you to play and pause audio, change volume, skip or replay tracks, and control the microphones without opening the Sonos app.

USB-C Power Delivery Charging

The USB-C port supports compatible USB-C Power Delivery chargers with supported power profiles including 12V/3A, 15V/3A and 20V/2.25A. The USB-C connection on the first-generation Move is used for charging and should not be confused with the expanded USB-C line-in functionality available on the Move 2.

Sonos Multi-Room System

When connected over Wi-Fi, Move can be grouped with compatible Sonos speakers for synchronized playback throughout the home. Two identical Sonos Move speakers can also be configured as a stereo pair within a compatible Sonos setup.
