Sonos Move 2 Portable Smart Speaker

The Sonos Move 2 is the second-generation portable speaker in the Sonos Move line. It introduces true stereo sound from a single speaker, up to 24 hours of battery life, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, Automatic Trueplay tuning, and USB-C connectivity. Move 2 is designed to work both as part of a Sonos home system and as a portable speaker away from home, with a built-in carrying handle, IP56 weather resistance and an included charging base.

Features of Move 2

True Stereo Sound from Dual Tweeters

Unlike the first-generation Sonos Move, Move 2 uses two angled tweeters to create separate left and right high-frequency channels from a single speaker. A dedicated midwoofer handles vocals, mid-range frequencies and bass, while three Class-D digital amplifiers power the speaker's acoustic system.

Precision-Tuned Midwoofer

The Move 2's midwoofer sits inside a sealed acoustic enclosure and works with Sonos digital signal processing to reproduce low frequencies with greater control. This dedicated woofer is responsible for the speaker's bass and much of its mid-range output, while the dual tweeters handle higher frequencies and stereo separation.

Automatic Trueplay Tuning

Automatic Trueplay uses Move 2's built-in microphones to analyse the acoustics around the speaker and continually adjust its sound.

If you move the speaker from a living room to a patio, bedroom or outdoor area, Trueplay automatically retunes the audio for the new environment without requiring manual calibration.

Up to 24 Hours of Playback

Move 2 provides up to 24 hours of continuous playback on a single charge under Sonos's stated testing conditions.

This is more than twice the rated playback time of the original Sonos Move, making battery life one of the major upgrades of the second-generation model.

Included Charging Base

Move 2 comes with its own Wireless Charging Base. Instead of plugging a charging cable into the speaker each time, place the Move 2 directly onto the base to recharge it.

The redesigned charging base uses a detachable, more compact power adapter than the previous generation.

Replaceable Battery

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery inside Move 2 is replaceable. Sonos offers a replacement battery kit, allowing the battery to be changed after long-term use instead of replacing the entire speaker.

IP56 Weather Resistance

Move 2 carries an IP56 rating and is designed to handle exposure to dust, splashes and rain during portable use. Its enclosure also uses shock-absorbing materials to provide additional protection against everyday knocks and accidental drops.

Built-In Carrying Handle

A recessed carrying handle is integrated into the rear of Move 2. It allows the 3kg speaker to be lifted and carried without requiring a separate strap or case.

Wi-Fi 6

Move 2 supports Wi-Fi 6 on compatible 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. When connected to Wi-Fi, the speaker integrates with the Sonos system, allowing access to Sonos-supported streaming services, multi-room playback, AirPlay 2 and compatible voice-control features.

Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth Grouping

Bluetooth 5.3 allows Move 2 to stream directly from compatible phones, tablets and computers when a Wi-Fi connection is unavailable or unnecessary. Move 2 can group with compatible Sonos portable speakers over Bluetooth, allowing multiple supported Sonos speakers to play together away from a normal home Wi-Fi setup. This is particularly useful for temporary setups such as outdoor gatherings, holiday accommodation or other locations where your normal Sonos network is unavailable.

Stereo Pair Two Move 2 Speakers

Two Move 2 speakers can be configured as a dedicated stereo pair, with one speaker handling the left channel and the other handling the right channel. Move 2 can also join other compatible Sonos products for synchronized multi-room playback.

USB-C Line-In

Move 2 supports analogue line-in through its USB-C port when used with the separately sold Sonos Line-In Adapter. This allows compatible sources such as a turntable, computer or other audio device with analogue output to play through the speaker.

Charge Your Phone from Move 2

The USB-C port can also provide power to a compatible smartphone or other supported USB-C device using energy from the Move 2 battery.

Apple AirPlay 2

Apple users can send audio directly to Move 2 over Wi-Fi using AirPlay 2 from compatible iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

Sonos Voice Control and Amazon Alexa

The built-in far-field microphones support Sonos Voice Control and Amazon Alexa where those services are available. A physical microphone switch on the rear of the speaker can disconnect power from the microphone hardware.

Touch Controls

The top panel includes capacitive controls for volume, playback, and track navigation, allowing basic speaker control without opening the Sonos app.

Sonos App Integration

The Sonos app is used to set up Move 2, manage Wi-Fi connections, group speakers, select supported music services, configure voice assistants and manage other Sonos system settings.
