Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is a foldable smartphone with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display that folds vertically into a compact, pocket-sized design. It also features a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED cover screen for checking notifications, viewing widgets and managing selected functions without opening the phone.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor, the Galaxy Z Flip3 includes 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB internal storage, dual 12MP rear cameras and a 10MP front camera. Its main display supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, while Flex Mode allows compatible applications to use the partially folded screen.

Other features include IPX8 water resistance, stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5G connectivity, wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. The Galaxy Z Flip3 originally launched with Android 11 and supports Android 15 with Samsung One UI 7.

Foldable Design with Flex Mode

The Galaxy Z Flip3 folds vertically using Samsung's hinge mechanism. When unfolded, it measures 166 x 72.2 x 6.9mm and functions as a full-sized smartphone. When folded, its height reduces to 86.4mm, making it easier to fit into smaller pockets and bags.

Flex Mode allows the phone to remain partially folded at supported angles. Compatible applications can adapt their interface to this position, placing content on one half of the display and controls on the other. The camera application, for example, can use this arrangement for hands-free photography and video recording when the device is positioned on a stable surface.

6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Main Display

The Galaxy Z Flip3 features a 6.7-inch Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels and approximately 426 pixels per inch.

Its adaptive 120Hz refresh rate provides smoother scrolling and supported animations compared with a standard 60Hz display. The screen also supports HDR10+ and reaches up to 1200 nits of peak brightness.

Unlike conventional smartphones with rigid glass screens, the Galaxy Z Flip3 uses a flexible display designed to bend at the hinge. A crease may be visible or noticeable where the screen folds.

1.9-inch Super AMOLED Cover Screen

The Galaxy Z Flip3 includes a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED cover display with a resolution of 260 x 512 pixels. This secondary screen remains accessible when the phone is folded.

The cover screen supports functions such as viewing the time, checking notifications, controlling music playback, accessing selected widgets and previewing photographs taken with the rear cameras.

It can also act as a camera viewfinder, allowing the dual rear cameras to capture selfies while the phone remains closed.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G Processor

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, manufactured using a 5-nanometre process. It features an octa-core CPU and Adreno 660 graphics processor.

Combined with 8GB RAM, the chipset supports multitasking, compatible mobile games, video playback and everyday Android applications. It also provides image processing capabilities for the phone's camera features.

Performance and battery consumption depend on the applications being used, network conditions and operating temperature.

Dual 12MP Rear Camera System

The Galaxy Z Flip3 features two rear cameras positioned beside its cover display.

  • 12MP Wide Camera: Features an f/1.8 aperture, dual pixel autofocus and optical image stabilisation (OIS) to help reduce blur from camera movement.
  • 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera: Features an f/2.2 aperture and a 123-degree field of view for capturing a broader scene within a single photograph.

The camera system supports HDR photography, panorama and LED flash. Its foldable design also allows the rear cameras to be used for selfies with a live preview on the cover screen.

Hands-Free Photography with Flex Mode

Flex Mode allows the Galaxy Z Flip3 to remain partially folded while using its cameras. When positioned on a stable surface, the lower half of the phone can act as a support, reducing the need to hold the device while taking photographs or recording videos.

Supported camera controls include photo capture and timer functions, while the cover display can provide a preview when photographing someone with the rear cameras.

4K Video Recording at up to 60fps

The Galaxy Z Flip3 supports 4K video recording at 30fps and 60fps using its rear camera system. It also supports 1080p Full HD recording at 60fps and slow-motion recording at up to 240fps.

HDR10+ video recording is available in supported modes. Optical image stabilisation on the main Wide camera helps reduce unwanted movement while recording.

10MP Front Camera

The Galaxy Z Flip3 has a 10MP front-facing camera with an f/2.4 aperture. It supports HDR photography and 4K video recording at 30fps.

The front camera is located in a centred cutout at the top of the main folding display. Alternatively, the rear cameras can be used for self-portraits using the cover screen as a viewfinder.

8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB Storage

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is available in two internal storage configurations:

  • 256GB internal storage with 8GB RAM

Both configurations use UFS 3.1 internal storage. There is no microSD card slot, so the internal storage capacity cannot be expanded using a memory card.

3300mAh Battery and Fast Charging

The Galaxy Z Flip3 is equipped with a 3300mAh lithium-polymer battery system. It supports 15W wired charging through its USB Type-C port.

10W Wireless Charging and Wireless PowerShare

The Galaxy Z Flip3 supports wireless charging at up to 10W with a compatible charger. It also includes Wireless PowerShare, which allows the phone to charge supported Qi-compatible accessories using reverse wireless charging at up to 4.5W.

Armor Aluminum Frame and Gorilla Glass Victus

The Galaxy Z Flip3 uses Samsung's Armor Aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus protection on its exterior glass surfaces.

The phone weighs 183g and features a hinge designed for repeated folding and unfolding. The outer glass and frame provide protection against everyday handling, although the flexible inner screen requires greater care than a conventional rigid smartphone display.

IPX8 Water Resistance

The Galaxy Z Flip3 has an IPX8 water-resistance rating and was tested under controlled conditions for immersion in freshwater at depths of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes.

The IPX8 rating does not include an official dust-resistance rating. Dust, sand and small particles should therefore be kept away from the hinge and folding display.

Water resistance may also decrease through age, wear, accidental damage or previous repairs.

5G Mobile Connectivity and Dual SIM

The Galaxy Z Flip3 supports 5G mobile networks alongside 4G LTE and earlier network technologies. Actual 5G connectivity depends on the device variant, supported frequency bands and mobile network coverage.

The phone supports a physical Nano-SIM and eSIM on compatible regional models. eSIM functionality depends on the specific device variant and mobile operator support.

Side-Mounted Fingerprint Sensor

The Galaxy Z Flip3 has a fingerprint sensor integrated into the side-mounted power button. This allows the phone to be unlocked with a registered fingerprint.
